Industrial Engineering Project Manager (CAPEX projects)

We are looking for 360° Expert Project Managers with industrial experience with a minimum of 10 yrs PM-experience and min 3. CAPEX (investment) projects succesfully delivered in the last 10yrs (or longer).

Mission

You will be responsible for leading complex, multidisciplinary industrial CAPEX projects within the process industry, typically valued between €5–15 million. Your role encompasses full owner-side accountability for project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies through to commissioning and handover to operations. Your key focus will be to manage external engineering firms and EPCM/EPC contractors, ensuring deliverables align with predefined scope, quality standards, and project timelines.

You will:

• Own end-to-end management of industrial CAPEX projects, including scope definition, budget control, and planning.
• Develop and defend business cases, investment requests, and CAPEX estimates; liaise with stakeholders for project approval.
• Prepare, maintain, and own the project baseline plan in MS Project, including shutdown and tie-in windows.
• Lead all project phases: pre-study, concept development, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Steer external engineering and EPCM/EPC contractors by monitoring scope, progress, quality, and costs. Challenge designs and estimates, ensuring contractual commitments are met.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams from process, mechanical, piping, electrical, automation, civil, and EHS disciplines.
• Manage risks, deviations, change orders, and claims, escalating issues promptly with proposed solutions.
• Act as the single point of accountability for site management, operations, EHS, and executive stakeholders.
• Promote a strong safety culture during engineering and construction phases.

Profile

• Minimum 10 years in industrial project management,  as an owner-side Project Manager accountable for project delivery.
• Proven experience in leading CAPEX projects exceeding €5 million in manufacturing, chemicals, metals, pharmaceuticals, or similar sectors within the past 10 years.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and external EPCM/EPC contractors.
• Extensive hands-on experience in project scope, budget, and schedule control, including preparing business cases and investment requests.
• Engineering background (mechanical, electrical, piping, civil) with at least 5 years of project engineering experience.
• Proficiency in MS Project with ownership of planning and resource management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels, including senior stakeholders and contractors.
• Autonomous, proactive, and capable of acting with full accountability.
• Relevant certifications such as VCA-VOL mandatory; PMP, Prince2, or IPMA are advantageous.
