Offshore Cable Project Engineer – Senior Level (6-10)
Mission
You will:
- Contribute to the engineering, planning, and execution of offshore cable systems supporting Belgium’s renewable energy transition.
- Lead and coordinate activities related to the preparation and installation of HVAC cable systems under an EPCI framework.
- Proactively identify opportunities to add value to the project and keep relevant stakeholders informed of progress.
- Review technical documentation, including scope of works and comment sheets, ensuring compliance and clarity.
- Collaborate with contractors, internal experts, and offshore client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor offshore works, including vessel operations, ROV activities, and preparatory tasks such as cable pull-ins, burial, boulder clearance, and dredging.
- Conduct technical analyses for cable installation and pull-in, considering weather limits and operational constraints.
- Ensure effective communication and documentation of project status, issues, and risks throughout the project lifecycle.
The position is based in Brussels, with site visits to the Belgian North Sea coast (typically 2-3 days per week). The role may involve short trips to contractors and suppliers domestically and internationally.
Profile
You have:
- At least 6 years of experience in offshore cable engineering, including offshore cable lay, burial, landfall, and structure pull-in operations.
- Proven expertise in offshore construction activities such as vessel operations, ROV work, and preparatory site works.
- Strong technical knowledge of survey techniques, GIS software, and route engineering.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Excellent team-working abilities, with the capacity to work independently and review complex documentation.
- Experience working in international project environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with entrepreneurial mindset and ability to adapt to technical challenges.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch and French is a plus.
- Willingness to operate in a dynamic environment with site visits along the Belgian North Sea coast.
