Electrical Site supervisor
Mission
– Manage and coordinate the daily work programme for site personnel, ensuring activities are executed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
– Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks, Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA), and other site safety communications.
– Take responsibility for supervising teams on site, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
– Ensure all required materials, tools, and equipment are available to maintain productivity and avoid work delays.
– Control and monitor site deliveries, ensuring materials are received in good condition and accurately reported.
– Supervise construction, maintenance, fitting, wiring, and installation activities related to substation plant and equipment.
– Verify that all site activities comply with RAMS, lifting plans, technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
– Manage permits to work and access limitations in coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
– Conduct pre-work safety inspections and proactively promote a strong safety culture across the site.
– Liaise with engineering, design, quality, and safety teams to resolve technical and operational issues.
– Support the Construction Manager in quality assurance activities, maintaining and completing Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) documentation.
– Ensure project documentation is properly managed, including drawings, records, and site-controlled documents.
– Chair site progress meetings with clients and prepare accurate meeting minutes and reports.
– Monitor progress, prepare job reports, and provide regular updates to management and clients.
– Investigate, report, and record accidents, hazards, near misses, and safety observations in accordance with company procedures.
– Lead by example in safety leadership, encouraging hazard identification, positive interventions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
– Ensure machinery, equipment, vehicles, and plant are operated safely and in accordance with procedures, training, and manufacturer guidelines.
– Mentor apprentices and junior team members, supporting their technical development and training objectives.
– Continuously develop technical competence and maintain required certifications and training.
Profile
– Previous experience in substation construction, maintenance, electrical installation, battery parks or related infrastructure projects.
– Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements within construction or energy projects.
– Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, RAMS, lifting plans, and other project documentation.
– Experience supervising site teams and coordinating daily work activities.
– Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage resources and materials effectively.
– Knowledge of document control processes and drawing management.
– Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
– Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, site teams, and project stakeholders.
– Good computer and tablet literacy for reporting, documentation, and project management activities.
– Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
– A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
– A proactive mindset focused on safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
